〜オルガニスト 木岡英三郎 梅子 記念資料室 再開に当たって〜

〜Upon the Reopening of the Organist Eizaburo and Umeko Kioka Memorial Archives〜

当資料室は、近代日本に於けるオルガニストの草分けであり、国内へのキリスト教会音楽の普及に大変重要な役割を果たした木岡英三郎氏 (1895.3.31 - 1982.3.15) が、実妹であるオルガニスト梅子女史とともに過ごした東京・荻窪の旧家跡に、氏の活動資料と楽譜出版事業を正式に継承された木岡完造氏が、その功績を次代へ伝え、また広く演奏・研究者に資するために設立した、現存資料の公開と小演奏会・講演会・勉強会などへの開放を目的とした施設です。

 

ご高齢となられ一時運用をやむなく中断されていた完造氏からの依頼を受け、今回、関係する教会・団体などからの奉仕者が中心となりその管理を代行し、資料を再整備のうえ、以下のような形態で施設の再公開・運用ができる運びとなりました。

国内のオルガン関連団体や研究者の方々などのご協力も得つつ、これが英三郎氏が目指した日本におけるオルガン・教会音楽のさらなる発展の一助となるならば、私たちの大いなる喜びです。

 

この再開に当たっては、梅子女史の愛弟子であり現日本オルガニスト協会会長であられる岩崎真実子先生が発起され、オルガニストであり日本近代オルガン史の研究者である千田寧子博士の無償の資料整理作業を始めとしたプロジェクトとチームが見えない手により集め与えられ、進行中の所蔵資料のアーカイブ化とデータベースの完成や、今後の一次資料のデジタル保存とオンライン公開などについても、在米の完造氏ご親族らとともに日々の祈りをもちながら、その導きにすべてを委ねているところです。

 

この恵まれた新しき一歩とその道行きが引き続き護られてゆくよう、心より感謝して祈るものです。

This Archive is dedicated to the legacy of Mr. Eizaburo Kioka (March 31, 1895 – March 15, 1982), a pioneer among organists in modern Japan who played a pivotal role in popularizing Christian church music within the country. The facility is located on the site of the former family home in Ogikubo, Tokyo, where he lived with his younger sister—also an organist—Ms. Umeko Kioka. It was established by Mr. Kanzo Kioka, who formally succeeded to the stewardship of Eizaburo’s professional records and sheet music publishing business. His aim was to pass on Eizaburo’s achievements to future generations and to serve the broader community of performers and researchers by making the existing materials accessible to the public and opening the space for small-scale recitals, lectures, and study groups.

 

Although operations were temporarily suspended due to Mr. Kanzo Kioka’s advancing age, we have now—at his request—arranged to reopen and manage the facility. Volunteers from affiliated churches and organizations have taken the lead in this effort; the materials have been reorganized, and the facility is now ready to resume operations in the manner described below. With the cooperation of domestic organ-related organizations and researchers, it brings us great joy if this initiative can contribute to the further development of organ and church music in Japan—a goal long cherished by Mr. Eiｚaburo.

 

This revival was initiated by Ms. Mamiko Iwasaki—a devoted disciple of Ms. Umeko and the current President of the Japan Organist Association. A project and team—including Dr. Yasuko Chida, an organist and researcher of modern Japanese organ history who has generously volunteered her time to organize the materials—have come together as if by an unseen hand. As we proceed with archiving the collection, completing the database, and planning for the future digital preservation and online publication of primary sources, we entrust the entire journey to divine guidance, offering daily prayers alongside Mr. Kanzo’s relatives in the United States. We offer our heartfelt gratitude and prayers that this blessed new step and the path ahead may continue to be watched over and protected.
